Hey everyone, welcome to integrate blogger, today we are going to talk about a very hot topic which is National Education Policy 2020. This is going to be a completely revolutionary act in our existing education system, and it will change the current scenario of mugging up things. Let us get some background story first, In India our education system has changed 2 times, before 2020 which were in year 1964 and 1986 and after that we are going to take such a huge step in this field after 34 year i.e., in 2020 and another important thing is that now government is going to spend 6% of our GDP on our education which is the minimum requirement for a country to spend on its education but they were not spending this amount till now, they were only spending 4.43% of our GDP on our education. The name of ministry of human recourse development get renamed as ministry of education.
Let’s get into detail description of our new education policy this new bill will totally change our current education system, whereas our previous pattern worked on 10+ 2 concept in which children were taught same pattern till 10 and then they chooses some specific stream, but now in this new bill we will follow 5+3+3+4 which means that it will be totally different and it will make you focus on more practical learning than mugging up things and it will also help in developing Indian knowledge system including tribal and indigenous knowledge to incorporation into curriculum in an accurate scientific manner. Let us now discuss it in more detail
1. Foundation stage (first five years age group 3-8)
This stage includes 3 year of preschool education and 2 year of primary education including class 1 and 2 in this year children will be introduced to some basic things like alphabets etc. They will be taught by using playing techniques and their bags will be very light weight, they don’t have to give any exams in these years they will be taught some basic thing like behavior, manners and some basic reading skills.
2. Preparatory stage (next three years age group 8-11)
This includes three year in class 3 to 5 and in this they will be focused on experimental learning, development of language and numerical skills. The children will be taught in their regional language in this way they will catch up thing in most appropriate way and English will be taught only as a subject and is not compulsory at all. In this way we will change the mindset towards English and value our mother tongue.
3. Secondary stage (next three years age group 11-14)
This stage includes 3 year in class 6 to 8, in these years, children will get introduced to coding and every stream subject so that they can choose their subject in future. They will get internship or maybe they will have to do some internships during these 3 year in which they can do internship in any field like, if one likes painting they can go to painter and do internship or if someone is interested in wooden work, they can go to carpenter etc., in this way students will get a field experience at small age which will be very helpful for them in future.
4. Last stage (last four years age group 14- 18)
This stage includes four years from class 9 to 12, here comes the biggest change in our history of education system, student gets the most flexible choices ever. Students can choose whatever combination they want to have and even can include any extracurricular activity as their main subject like, if I want to study physics, history, music, math and computer science I can do it, but we are not sure that this will happen in this way, or school will make some variety of combination and you have to choose it but it will be get clarified soon. Exam of students from class 9 to 12 will get in the semester system and they will focus more on real Knowledge and also the board exams will also be conducted in the semester pattern now, there will be no stream system in schools. It will include multidisciplinary study, greater critical thinking and flexibility of student choice.
Okay, now we have talked enough about schools, now let’s talk about higher education, Yes, there are also some change in higher education system. Now according to this new bill there will be a common higher education regulator for all higher education except medical and legal course, and class 12th percentage will not be mattered at all.
There will be cap on fees, no private institutions can go above that amount, and students are allowed to leave a course whenever they wanted according to situation like, some have family issues or financial issues they can dropout in the end of any year and can continue their study within the given time period for example, if you drop out college after first year you will get a certificate and when you want to restart study you can get enrolled into 2nd year, in this similar way if you dropped out in 2nd year you will get a diploma and in the 3rd year you get degree and in 4th year you will get degree with a research certificate, in this way it will become multi entry and multi exit system. It also has credit system in which students have credit to whatever course they want to do after some credits they will get its degree, in this way one can do 2 different courses at the same time. According to new bill students have 360 degrees report card which include many things other than Marks, it includes their behavior, their own view and other fellow-mates views and teacher’s views on students. This is a revolutionary step and it will be implicated in upcoming year and it will take at least 2 to 3 years to get into the system but it’s goanna change our new generation’s life completely, and I hope that it will make India, a land of wonderful brains because if this education system work in the similar way as it is written children will get so much exposures to the real world at very early age and they will develop their passion and also due the flexibility they have time to pursue it.
