The rise of women right and equality movement and pressure on men.
With the rise of women's rights and equality movements, men feel the pressure to choose whether they have to participate in it or not. The word feminism has found a greater use in recent times. But, people have different opinions about what feminism means to them.
Starting with the fact that the time we are living in, misconceptions got spread very easily. For example if someone says that "I am not a feminist” It is believed that he/she is against women empowerment or a blind believer of the patriarchy and maybe vice versa. And this is something that should definitely not happen in any ways. Or often there is a misconception that if you are female you are likely to be more inclined towards feminism and the movement going around regarding the equality and empowerment of women but if you are a man some how, some where or to some extent you will considered as a Chauvinist. There are plenty of men who called themselves a proud feminist and they do deserves appreciation for that But that doesn’t mean those who preferably not call themselves a proud feminist should always be criticized. As an individual they have their own choices and their own experience and it might possible that those experience or choices does get fitted into the parameter of being an Equalist rather than being a feminist and vice versa.
Though simultaneously there is a constant pressure of choosing a side and participating in this movement is being faced by and every individual either male or female or a third gender, who prefer not to normalize the gender discrimination happening around them or in the society in the name of norms and culture. The reason behind this pressure is the lack of education(resources in particular) or maybe our lack of knowledge about things happening around us. Since, It becomes more easy and smooth to choose a side when you know about each and every aspect related to any particular ideology or theory but with the absence of proper knowledge and lack of resources it often happen that you have you face the issue of choosing anything. And it’s completely justified to be stay apolitical for a while, assuming that with the time you will educate yourself.
Also, the fake version of everything is available in the market or our surrounding, example the fake capitalist, the socialist, the fake liberals, fake equalist, the fake conservatives and most importantly the fake liberals too, so among them feminism is being most critized one likely because it’s in growing phase and there is barely any institution that provides proper education and insight of it. Though like any other ideology, Feminism also deserves criticism but it also deserves the right to evolve, grow and a platform to make itself inclusive.
According to me feminism is one of the most inclusive idea or ideology that not only talks about a particular gender (i.e woman, who are being oppressed and harassed from centuries) but also talks about men(because to some or more extent men or also facing the demerits of patriarchy). Moreover it is so comprehensive that it also talks about the 3rd gender(the LGBTQIA+ community) and acknowledge them. The community got legalized in India in 2018 itself, but the movement has roots its root in feminist movement too. But it doesn’t mean you have to call out publicly all the time that I AM FEMINIST MAN, all what you can do is practice the gender neutral behaviour in your day to day life and try to bring out the change in your home first.
